Dear Mother,
I expect you to think that I am a nice hand for not writing before, but the reason is that I have not wrote is because I wanted to find out more about you opening Lily’s letters. It was alright just because the postman made a mistake for you to open them. I want to know what business of yours it is to open them. And Emma writes to Harry and says that George don’t write now. What business it is of hers about George not writing. You can tell her that I don’t want to write to her. Because talk about not going to France. You can bet all the money that you have that I am going or else it won’t be my fault. I ain’t forgot what Emma said that last time I was home “Nobody’s wanted now they are here”. And you can tell her that I will not come home while she is there. I will now close because I ain’t got the patience to write any more.
With love from,
George
