Dear Mother,
I received your loving letter this morning (Thursday) and also the parcel. There was a scarf, two pairs of socks, a body belt and a pair of mitts. I am sending the scarf and the body belt you can give Harry the body belt if you’d like because it is no good to me and it might come in alright for Harry. I am sending my insurance card, give it to Albert Wooderton. I expect you thought I meant go in the regular army for good, but that is where I shine this time. I ain’t going to bet on a blind horse. If I get in I shall only go in for the duration of the war. Harry wrote and told me that he had a cold but he did not say anything about being bad in bed. I think this is all this time.
With love, I remain your loving son,
George
Let me know if you get the parcel.
